Product Description Xtreme N Duo is the latest addition to the Award-Winning Xtreme N product family. The DAP-1555 works with next generation dualband (2.4GHz and 5GHz) 802.11n wireless devices as well as legacy 802.11a/b/g products. The D-Link Xtreme N Duo MediaBridge is designed for users looking to get a true HD wireless connection that can handle multiple High-Definition video streams throughout the house. The Xtreme N Duo MediaBridge (DAP-1555) with MediaBand technology allows you to easily upgrade any router to support streaming of High-Definition (HD) multimedia content in your home over a wireless connection. Connect up to 5 Ethernet-enabled devices in your entertainment center to the MediaBridge, such as Game Consoles, Digital Video Recorders (DVR), and Digital Media Adapters (DMA) all at the same time. You can also upgrade your network to support dualband wireless streaming by connecting a DAP-1555 to your current router. The DAP-1555 introduces MediaBand technology, which is the best technology available that helps provide a stable high-performance wireless link for streaming multiple High-Definition videos. MediaBand achieves this by operating in a clear wireless band to avoid interference that may slow down and limit the range of current wireless technologies like 802.11b/g and draft 802.11n. MediaBand is backwards compatible with legacy 802.11 wireless devices, so you can easily connect and help enable a better signal using D-Link MediaBand technology. Delivering superior wireless performance, clarity, and coverage, the Xtreme N Duo MediaBridge (DAP-1555) is the ideal addition for your wireless network in the home. The D-Link Xtreme N Duo High-Definition MediaBridge allows you to easily upgrade any router to support streaming of High-Definition (HD) multimedia content in your home over a wireless connection. Use two MediaBridge adapters for optimal performance: connect one MediaBridge to your router and place the second MediaBridge in your entertainment center. At yo...

I've got this product in the early Dec. '07 and it is the best wireless device I've ever tried. Extremely good speed and impressive range. But be careful - If you want to use it as a router - you are out of luck. This is a MediaBridge and acts as Access Point only!. Initially I tried to connect it straight to my DSL modem/router and to connect couple of wired desktop PC's as well as a wireless laptop. But since my DSL router is giving me only 1 IP address the first connected computer was OK, everything else was with no connection at all. So I had to put another router (cheap wired one) between the DSL modem/router and the DAP-1555 to assure that all my pc's will receive proper IP's and connect to the network.
D-Link's Media Bridge Is A Winner January 7, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Application: Bridge Mode (Currently Running N/G mode - 2.4 Ghtz - Averaging 78 mbps and registering 52% signal strength - Bridge about 150 ft from Router).
Why did I buy this??? Well, my home is too large for Wireless "G" devices and the Xbox 360 USB Wireless A/B/G Adapter did not have the bandwidth and coverage to connect to my wireless router. This distance contributed to slow, choppy games and sometimes the Xbox didn't even connect at all. I have a D-Link DGL-4500 Wireless Gaming Router which is my Access Point (AP) and have had no problems setting up and configuring this Media Bridge to it.
Be advised though...Don't expect to get wired LAN connection speeds, because you only get that from a wired LAN connection. Possibly could obtain better performance from this bridge with another Media Bridge connected to my AP(max performance), but who has another $200 to spend. Anyways, I will say that it's far better than any "G" adapter/bridge/access point on the market. Noticeable improvement over "G" and well worth the purchase. Thanks D-Link!
